Shaping the Accountants of the Future

AccounTINSolutions delivers experience-based, practical solutions in the areas that matter most to you while also exploring the daily struggles of the average millennial or Gen Z accountant. In the process, we’re also “shaping the accountants of the future”.

It's not about accounting.
It's about accountants.

About You

You’re an accountant who’s stuck in your profession and biting your nails to get out and do what you really love. You want to make the most out of your accounting profession but don’t know where to start. You want to make a move but don’t know what that move is.

You’re tired of getting labelled as the “dull guy/gal behind the computer creating spreadsheets and reviewing numbers”.

You want to be known for who you really are—an exciting and interesting person with a unique story to tell.

You want to inspire others too and make a difference.

About TIN & AccounTINSolutions

Two things fascinate me.

First, that most accountants I know didn’t want to be an accountant in the first place. They wanted to be an artist, a chef, a doctor, an environmentalist, a fashion designer, a musician, a journalist, a rock band guitarist, or simply a writer.

But to some stroke of luck, misfortune, divine (or motherly) intervention, they found themselves printing the words BS Accounting on their university enrollment sheet.

Four or five years later, they earned the CPA title. Before they knew it, it was too late to back out and pursue their career of choice.

Second, the accounting profession is a hotbed of myths and misconceptions.

It’s a profession that became synonymous with financial wealth, stability, and prestige that people rarely ask what sort of lives accountants lead, both in public and private practice.

When you go to a party and mention that you’re an accountant, people would just nod and equate you to any of these labels: a numbers-guy/gal, taxes, boring, a Big 4 person, etc.

It’s hard to say otherwise.

My point?

The accounting world is not just a world of numbers. People are behind each well-maintained books or well-prepared financial statements.

Beneath our suits and our dryness, we also have our stories to tell.

What empowers a millennial or Gen Z accountant is this: We stop accepting that the world is supposed to work the way it is. We aim for change, big or small. We are always in pursuit of opportunities. If not, we create them. We do not settle.

It’s the sort of empowerment I’ve seen working with colleagues in a public accounting firm. It’s the sort of empowerment that needs to spread.

If you’re an accountant yourself, I bet that at one point, you asked yourself one of these things:

  • How do I build a successful accounting career?
  • How do I find the best-paying accounting jobs?
  • How do I get a fast-track promotion?
  • How do I survive living and working abroad as an expat accountant?
  • How do I escape the stress of working in a public accounting firm?
  • How do I know when I’m happy with what I’m doing within the profession?

AccounTINSolutions delivers experience-based, practical solutions in the areas that matter most to you while also exploring the daily struggles of the average millennial or Gen Z accountant. In the process, we’re also “shaping the accountants of the future”.

What They Say I'm Good At

Coach & Content Creator.
Problem Solver.
Accountant.

A Certified Public Accountant who chose to re-define her career by becoming a coach & content creator while using her skills, knowledge, and expertise to continue being a problem-solver and all the while shaping her career as an accountant/auditor, meet Tin of AccounTINSolutions.

As a Coach & Content Creator

I regularly write through Substack, my blog, and Medium (for personal essays and travel-inspired stories). Through my content, I help shape the young accountants of the future by providing them with experience-based and skills-focused learning.

I am also a coach to young auditors/accountants who aim to shape themselves into globally competent professionals. I help you create a FLIGHT plan for an international career journey.

As Problem-Solver

I enjoy challenges and navigating complexity. At work, I loved listening to people and providing solutions in whatever way I can.

But in this world with endless problems, big or small, my enjoyment or love doesn’t count for anything.

I’ve often heard my colleagues complain that our profession does not hold real meaning because it does not serve society. Accounting, indeed, is not a career for ending world hunger or protecting the environment. But the solution lies, not in the profession, but in the people who practice it.

As such, I want to use my skills, knowledge, and expertise to spread positivity and inspiration.

I want accountants to be seen as value-providers and problem-solvers regardless of which field of work they end up on. And eventually, I want to empower young professionals like me to go beyond their professions and find meaning in their work.

It’s a giant ambition, especially for a five-feet-tall Asian woman like me. But I’m starting small. And that’s better than not starting, at all.

As Accountant / Auditor

I have been a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) since 2014, a 7-seasoned audit professional in a Big 4 firm in 3 countries (Philippines, Singapore, Belgium), with audit experience in large, international companies.

Throughout the years, I honed my soft skills on top of my technical expertise. These skills come in handy when I’m interacting with internal and external stakeholders and diverse, global teams. I also use my acquired skills and experiences to train auditors on how to deliver quality audits.

I’m an accountant, in mind and heart. That’s why I’m marrying this profession into my passion instead of totally discarding it.

If you're interested to work with me in any of the above areas, let's connect!
